Interns can help companies reduce waste and energy use

Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP)

December 17, 2012
Gears
The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) is an outreach program at the University of Minnesota that helps Minnesota businesses develop and implement industry-tailored solutions that prevent pollution at the source, maximize efficient use of resources, and reduce energy use and costs to improve public health and the environment.
MnTAP is currently seeking project proposals from Minnesota businesses for its 2013 summer intern program. Businesses interested in reducing waste and improving energy efficiency are encouraged to apply for an intern.
Each year, interns are chosen based on their outstanding educational background and leadership capabilities. Proposed projects are evaluated for reduction potential, specific goals achievable in three months, relation to previous projects, application of results to other Minnesota businesses, and company interest and commitment. Projects should focus on identifying specific options for reducing waste and increasing energy efficiency.
Proposals are due to MnTAP by February 1, 2013.  For more information about the intern program or the application process, visit the MnTAP website or contact Linda Maleitzke at 612.624.4697 or lmaleitz@umn.edu.

Happy New Year!

I want to invite you to a Tax Reform Open House for business and economic development leaders coming up after the opening of the legislative session and before the announcement of the budget.  We are inviting business leaders and others interested in Minnesota’s success to meet with members of Governor Dayton’s administration and legislators as state biennial budget setting gets underway. We will share updates on tax reform and listen to your ideas on how to make our tax system more fair and balanced.

We will be having a Tax Reform Open House for Business Leaders on Thursday, January 17 from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at the Department of Revenue in the Skjegstad Room. (600 North Robert Street, St. Paul, MN 55146).  This will be an opportunity to mingle with our co-hosts - Chief of Staff Tina Smith, Deputy Chief of Staff Dana Bailey, Legislative Director Jaime Tincher, MMB Commissioner Jim Schowalter and myself.  We would love to have you come.

Also, if you associate with other business leaders or business owners, please send this invitation out to your networks so we can hear from as many business leaders as possible.

I look forward to seeing you at the Open House.  RSVPs are welcomed but not required.  Feel free to respond to this email if you would like to RSVP.  Also, please let me know if you were able to forward this invitation along to others.  Please come if you can.
